[Father Jayme Mathias 0:03]
Welcome to “Extraordinary Catholics” podcast. I’m your host, Father Jayme Mathias, Pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church, the only inclusive Catholic community in Austin, Texas.
In this podcast, we’ll explore the theological foundations of Inclusive Catholicism, which is known by a number of names, including Independent Catholicism and Autocephalous Catholicism. In a world of over one billion ordinary Catholics, we are the Vatican-free Catholics who often find ourselves more aligned with the beliefs and practices of the Old Catholic Church and so many other inclusive Christian communities, than with the Roman Church from which many of us came.
In this podcast, we’ll begin with the Hebrew scriptures and journey forward in history, growing in our appreciation for our loving and inclusive God, who won’t be boxed in or limited by any structures or strictures, and who continues to be present and active in the Church, calling all people into deeper communion with God and others. We’ll explore the theological underpinnings for our attempts to bring sacramental justice to our world, our attempts to eliminate obstacles and barriers to the sacraments of the Church, and our efforts to bring to birth communities that call women and married persons and the divorced and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to the ordained ministries of the Church.
